A good recent example of the difference between corporatism and capitalism is illustrated in the story of the development of internet search engines, and in comparing the performance of two particular search engines: Google and Quaero. Google was started by two Stanford graduate students—Larry Page and Sergey Brin—in their garage in 1996 as a research project. It was first incorporated in 1998, and had its Initial Public Offering in 2004, which estimated the company’s worth at $23billion."
